On Wednesday, the Cleveland Browns got a scare when DT Mike Hall Jr. was helped off the field after what looked like a right leg injury in the walk-through portion of OTAs. Thankfully, it seems like the former Ohio State Buckeye will be okay with no serious injury. The Browns offseason program has been all about the offense, particularlyy the QB position, and DE Myles Garrett not being present for any of the voluntary activities, leading to more and more national discussion.
Garrett hasn’t been the
only high-profile Cleveland player absent from the offseason program, as CB Denzel Ward has also not been seen at any practices available to the media. Ward shared that he has been working out to get ready for the season, but (seemingly) joked that his duties to his girlfriend have kept him away from the team:
As Ward notes at the end of the video, he’s still been engaged with new DC Mike Rutenberg and watching the film from the team’s workouts.
At $30 million, Ward has the Browns second highest cap hit, behind QB Deshaun Watson. Cleveland GM Andrew Berry did not fully restructure the cornerback’s contract this offseason, leading to some speculation that he could be traded if the Browns went with a bigger rebuild process.
