Another Rutgers basketball player has decided to enter the transfer portal, as forward Chris Nwuli has decided to continue his college days elsewhere, according to a post made by The Knight Report. He leaves Rutgers with three years of eligibility remaining.
During his one year at Rutgers, Nwuli played in 29 games and averaged 2.2 points, 1.4 rebounds, and .4 assists per game. Even though he did not take many shots, he posted decent shooting percentages for a freshman, hitting 50 percent on threes,
36.8 percent on twos, 68.6 percent on free throws. He also showed glimpses of promise as a defender but still had a lot of inconsistency in his play on that side of the court.
The 6-foot-8, 205-pound freshman played his senior year high school ball at Dynamic Prep in Texas. Nwuli was ranked the No. 103 overall recruit in the 2025 class per the Rivals Industry Rankings. Coming out of high school, he held several notable offers and ended up choosing Rutgers over schools like Arizona State, Louisville, Ohio State, San Diego State, St. John’s, TCU, UCLA, USC , Utah, Washington, Washington State and more.
With his departure, that brings the total of Rutgers transfer portal departures up to 7, four of whom are forwards.
