We’ve got the coverage map of this week’s game between the Minnesota Vikings and the Detroit Lions, and a pretty good chunk of the country is going to be receiving this big matchup between these two NFC North rivals.
Here’s a look at the map, brought to you (as always) by the folks from 506 Sports. The Vikings/Lions game is represented by the red area.
As you can see, most of the northern half of the United States is going to be getting this one, save for a few spots for reasons I’m not sure of. The
splotches of green that are inside the red area represent the late game (because CBS has the doubleheader this week) between the Los Angeles Chargers and Los Angeles Rams. So, I guess places like Cincinnati, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Buffalo, Baltimore, and Jacksonville will be getting that game instead because of. . .I don’t know. . .AFC conference interests? I mean, the Chargers are terrible so that doesn’t really make sense, but I can’t think of another good reason, to be honest. It seems kind of random to me, but if someone knows more about how these things work than I do, they can explain it in the comments.
Regardless, most of the northern U.S. will be getting this game, as will parts of New England and the Miami area. The Vikings are also still, apparently, big in Alaska. For the guy who complained on social media that I was cutting off the part of the map that shows what games are being shown in Alaska and Hawai’i, I was not aware that I was doing that, but there it is down in the lower-left corner.
As far as the rest of the map, the blue area represents Arizona at Dallas, the yellow area represents Las Vegas at the New York Jets, and the orange area represents Atlanta at Tampa Bay.
FOX apparently believes that this is their biggest game of the week, as they’ve assigned their #1 broadcast team to cover it. Kevin Burkhardt and Tom Brady will be handling the call from the booth for this one.
That’s your coverage map for this week’s game, folks. We’ve got a lot more coverage to come of this week’s game, so keep it right here for all the latest.
