Add another player to the list of retained Seattle Seahawks free agents.
The team announced on Wednesday that wide receiver and special teams player Cody White has agreed to a new contract. White was a restricted free agent but was not tendered, which made him an unrestricted free agent once the new league year began on March 11.
For the most part, White has bounced between the practice squad and active roster throughout his Seahawks tenure, but this year saw him score his first NFL touchdown on a 60-yard
catch-and-run against the Washington Commanders.
Unfortunately, White’s season came to an end after Seattle’s Week 17 win over the Carolina Panthers, having suffered a groin injury trying to block a punt early in the game. Through 10 games, White played a career-high 282 snaps (165 on offense, 117 on special teams).
With Dareke Young gone to the Las Vegas Raiders, Cody White should be in the running for the WR5/6 role. Seattle also tendered fan favorite Jake Bobo, who similarly contributes occasionally on offense but frequently on special teams.
Seattle’s free agency has been as straightforward as it could possibly get in the span of a week. Every Seahawks unrestricted, exclusive rights, and restricted free agent is now accounted for. Technically, Shane Lemieux, Quandre Diggs, and Shaquill Griffin are street free agents after they were not retained when the practice squad dissolved, but that’s about it.
