The Green Bay Packers care about special teams now. Everyone rejoice. On Tuesday, NFL reporter Jordan Schultz broke the news that the Packers will be signing wide receiver and returner Skyy Moore.
The former second-round pick, hailing from Matt LaFleur’s old stomping grounds, Western Michigan, returned 25 punts for 291 yards (11.6 average) and 33 kicks for 907 yards (27.5 average) in 2025 with the San Francisco 49ers. For perspective, Green Bay’s top punt returner last year, Romeo Doubs, posted just
a 6.3 average in 2025. Moore’s rate is nearly double.
In the kick return game, Savion Williams averaged a 25.6-yard gain last year, so Moore’s a slight improvement there.
According to Schultz, Moore is on a one-year contract. It will be interesting to see the contract details because if he receives an APY of $3 million or more, this could cancel out a fifth-round compensatory draft pick for 2027. Because of this pressure, I’m assuming that Moore is going to come under the $3 million mark.
