Colorado State Potential Coaching Candidates
With a head coaching spot open, the Athletic profiles potential names to keep an eye on. The consensus is that this job should be a good one, but the program hasn’t really been able to put it together despite a large fan base and top-tier facilities. There are some intriguing names, like Tony Alford, who was a rising star a few years ago, and Tim Skipper, who figures to be a popular name this coaching carousel. Other fun names include Tim Plough, Bryan Harsin, or Kirby Moore. Brent Vigen’s name always seems to come up for MW openings, and Jason Eck and Marcus Arroyo are mentioned too.
Mountain West Rankings
This week for Chris Murray, he puts the Aztecs in the top spot following the UNLV loss. The Broncos also rise to second, while the Rebels drop to third. Hawaii and Fresno State swap places, and New Mexico stands pat. In the bottom half of the rankings, Utah State moves up a spot and Air Force moves up two. Wyoming and San Jose State each drop. Then the Rams and Wolf Pack stand pat at the bottom.
Athlon Bowl Projections
In this week’s version, Athlon’s pick of Boise State in the LA Bowl is justified following their win. Utah State remains in the Potato Bowl, and Hawaii does the same. Then it’s Fresno State in the First Responder Bowl and San Diego State in the Arizona Bowl. Following the loss, UNLV’s banishment to the New Mexico Bowl finally makes sense. It’s hard to know if Athlon doesn’t watch the games or is great at predicting how things will shake out.
