Julian Alvarez was conspicuous by his absence as Atletico Madrid launched their new home kit for the 2026-27 season on Monday.
Atletico posted images of their players in the new outfit on social media but there was no sign of Alvarez after his very public request for a transfer at World Cup 2026.
Marcos Llorente, Marc Pubill, Alex Baena and Giuliano Simeone are the main protagonists in the promotional shots on the team’s social channels and the club’s website but not Alvarez.
Barcelona continue to be linked with a move for Alvarez and have reportedly made the Argentine their top target for the summer transfer window.
Atletico are adamant they won’t sell but not including their star striker in their new kit launch will only ramp up speculation that he’s not in their plans for the future.
Alvarez remains at World Cup 2026 with Argentina and is currently preparing for a Round of 32 match-up against Cabo Verde on Friday in Miami.
As for Barca, reports say a new offer will be submitted to Atletico for Alvarez shortly in a fresh attempt to land the 26-year-old..
