As football-loving Colorado fans have turned their attention from Saturdays to Sundays, some Forever Buffs have given them much to be excited about.
Last Sunday was no exception to that, being perhaps the most exciting week of NFL football for Colorado fans in recent years. Despite Travis Hunter being on IR for the remainder of the season, four Buffs showed out and reminded us of their greatness back home in Boulder.
Shedeur Sanders
We’ve already written a whole article about Shedeur’s stellar game against the Tennessee
Titans and Cam Ward, so we’ll spare you on the nitty-gritty details.
A stat line of 23 completions for 364 passing yards and three touchdowns through the air is great, but when you add Shedeur’s 29 rushing yards with a rushing touchdown, we’ve officially entered the elite performance category. Sanders sliced through a stout Titans defense that has played extremely well in recent weeks like butter, earning him the starting role in Cleveland for the remainder of the season, as announced by Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski.
Shedeur mounted a late fourth-quarter comeback and gave the Browns an opportunity to win by connecting with TE Harrold Fannin on a touchdown with just a minute left to play, cutting the deficit to two points and giving Cleveland a chance for overtime if the two-point conversion was good. Ultimately, the Browns were doomed by a disastrous playcall by Stefanski to take the ball out of Sanders’ hand and run a poorly designed wildcat to Quinshon Judkins, which failed about as badly as it possibly could’ve.
Still, Sanders showed everybody what Colorado fans have known since 2023: this kid is a baller. Shedeur will get four more starting opportunities this season, and he’s more than earned it.
Nate Landman
Moving from Cleveland to Los Angeles, former CU Nate Landman has been quietly piecing together an elite season with the Rams.
So far in 2025, Landman has been balling, forcing four fumbles with his new team after coming over from Atlanta. This Sunday, against the Cardinals, Landman decided that forcing fumbles was getting boring, snagging his first interception of the season by undercutting a throw by Kyler Murray in zone coverage.
Landman was a borderline Pro-Bowler during his time with the Falcons, but has broken through to become one of the best turnover hawks in the NFL in his first season in SoCal. It’s been a joy to watch “The Hammer” burst out onto the scene these last few years.
Cam’Ron Silmon-Criag
Silmon-Craig became a Colorado staple during the Deion Sanders era, acting as the vocal and emotional leader for CU’s defense in 2023 and 2024. When Silmon-Craig went undrafted and signed with the Jacksonville Jags prior to this NFL season, his future in the league looked like it was in limbo.
After spending the entire season thus far on the Jags’ practice squad, Silmon-Criag was finally given the opportunity to make his NFL debut on Sunday following being elevated to the active roster last week. In Jacksonville’s win against the Colts, Silmon-Craig saw the field a good share, recording his first two tackles of his pro career. Although his performance wasn’t flashy and doesn’t jump off the box score, getting your first NFL game-time reps is a big deal and things are only on the up-and-up for the former Buff.
BJ Green II
Green is another Buff that made an impact in the Jags’ win over the Colts on Sunday. Green has been having an eventful rookie year, getting plenty of reps for Jacksonville over the last three weeks. On Sunday, he was able to snag the first turnover of his pro career, jumping on a loose ball for a fumble recovery.
This Jags’ is powered by plenty of young and talented former Buffs, and is going to be so fun to watch when Travis Hunter returns.
