The 2025/26 season saw Harry Kane reach new heights in goalscoring, netting a ludicrous 73 goals in all competitions with Bayern Munich and England. These heights have propelled him into discussions around potentially winning the Ballon d’Or, and Bayern have wasted no time putting their support behind the former Tottenham Hotspur player.
Speaking with Bayern’s magazine, Säbener51, Kane professed how grateful he was for the public support from teammates and club officials alike: “That makes me proud.
I really appreciate how my colleagues and the club are getting behind me,” he said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “We work extremely hard together, and I work as hard as possible for the team. It’s really pleasing that they support me so much—I can only thank them for that.”
Coincidentally, the award ceremony will take place in London for the first time. As someone who was raised in London and lived there for the vast majority of his life, would it mean something to Kane to potentially be announced as the first English Ballon d’Or winner since Michael Owen in 2001 and receive the award in London?
“It’s obviously special for me that the ceremony is taking place in London,” Kane replied. “I come from London and lived there for a long time—maybe that’s a good omen. An English player hasn’t won it for over 20 years, even though there have been a lot of great English players in that time. The Ballon d’Or would be a massive success for me, but at the moment I’m concentrating on performing again this season.”
