Texas Longhorns women’s athletics gets to put a bow on October that includes successes such as a postseason soccer berth, back-to-back sweeps by the volleyball team, and two exhibition wins for women’s basketball just shy of the program’s 2026-2027 regular season tipping off.
Here’s a look at the past week’s stretch and what’s coming up in early November.
Review: Oct. 23-29
Texas soccer
Texas dropped its final regular season road match this week as the Longhorns fell to No. 1 Vanderbilt, 5-0, on Oct.
23. And while the sizable loss stung for at least a moment, Texas soccer still managed to clinch a spot in this season’s SEC Tournament. Goalkeeper Bayliss Flynn recorded a season-best nine saves against Texas’ new SEC foe, the Commodores. Texas now returns home, to good ole Austin, to close the regular season versus Auburn.
Texas volleyball
No. 14 Texas put together consecutive SEC sweeps, defeating both South Carolina on Oct. 25 and Georgia, 3-0, in straight sets on Oct. 28. Torrey Stafford led Texas with 12 kills against the Gamecocks, then 15, against Georgia. Henley Anderson added 11 kills in each match. Texas improved to 11-7 overall and 7-3 in conference play.
Texas women’s basketball
Texas finished exhibition play with victories over UCLA and (former Big 12 rival) Baylor. The Longhorns defeated the defending national champion Bruins, 81-64, on Oct. 25. Texas’ thrilling win had its way paved through the team’s dependence on Madison Booker’s can’t-miss mentality. Texas followed the win with an 85-64 victory against Baylor just four days later. Zya Vann led the Longhorns over the Bears as she scored 18 points, while teammates Booker, Cunningham, and Jayda Clark added 12.
Texas women’s golf
No. 11 Texas finished fourth at the Nanea Invitational in Hawaii at 20-under par. Farah O’Keefe finished at nine-under, while freshman Charlotte Naughton tied for 10th at six-under. The tournament concluded Texas women’s golf’s fall golf schedule.
Texas tennis and Texas softball
Women’s tennis had ITF tournaments scheduled in Sumter, Norman, and New Braunfels beginning Oct. 26. Softball’s fall slate included home games against McLennan Community College (which won their respective national championship in 2022 and 2024) and Interstate-35 foe UTSA on Oct. 27 and 29. Texas Athletics has not published consolidated results for those events.
