No. 3 FSU soccer will look to move to 3-0 on the season tonight, facing off against FAU (its third straight matchup vs. an in-state opponent) at 7 p.m. ET, with the game set to be broadcast on ACC Network Extra:
The Seminoles are 2-0-0 on the season after a pair of road wins to begin the campaign last weekend. FSU is unbeaten in 35 consecutive regular-season non-conference games, a stretch that began in the middle of the 2019 non-conference season. Additionally, dating back to last year’s national-title run, Florida State has won seven in a row away from home, the second-longest streak in school history, and eight consecutive games overall with a 12-game unbeaten streak, both tied for 10th-longest all-time. The team’s four-game shutout streak also is tied for 10th in the school record books.
Florida State’s six goals have come from different players, three of them newcomers, and four players have one assist, all first-year Seminoles. That includes senior forward Tanner Strickland, who has a goal and an assist for a team-best three points. Junior forward Wrianna Hudson, who scored the game-winner in Sunday’s win, leads the team with eight shots, all on goal. Junior goalkeeper Fernanda Mayrink and sophomore goalkeeper Kate Ockene both have shutout performances, as Mayrink had three saves on Sunday and Ockene two on Thursday.
The Seminoles are 4-0-0 all-time against Florida Atlantic after a 5-0 road win last season. The series began with a 7-0 victory in Tallahassee in 2003, followed by a 3-0 win in the NCAA First Round in 2005 in Gainesville, Florida. The last two matchups have been in Boca Raton, with a 2-1 win in 2006 before the 2025 clean sheet.
On September 7, 2025, Florida State led 2-0 after 99 seconds en route to a 5-0 road win. In their non-conference finale, the game ended in the 79th minute due to lightning in the area. With the season’s first victory away from home, Florida State took a 1-0 lead just 44 seconds into the contest and made it 2-0 55 seconds later. Four players scored a goal and five notched an assist as 22 players appeared in the game, all for at least 26 minutes. Hudson scored two goals. Meanwhile, the defense held FAU to just one shot, as the Seminoles posted a 24-1 advantage in shots, 13-1 in shots on goal. FSU had 11 corner kicks and did not allow one.
