UFC fan favorite Edson Barboza may be done with his face-punching career, but the 40-year-old lightweight is not ready to sit on the couch and get fat just yet. Instead, Barboza will hit the mats for Absolute Championship of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (ACBJJ), which holds Gi and No-Gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) tournaments, super fights, and mixed grappling events.
The promotion recently made the announcement on social media.
A date and opponent for his ACBJJ debut has yet to be determined.
“I did the right
choices in this part of my life about investments,” Barboza told MMA Junkie. “But I’m still 40. I’m still young and very excited about the future. I have a lot of things to do in the future. Thank God I did the right choices on the financial side.”
Barboza (24-15), who spent two years of his career fighting “half blind,” is coming off a lopsided loss to Esteban Ribovics at UFC 330 back in August.
