Bayern Munich needed a hero during its 3-3 draw with Heidenheim and midfielder Leon Goretzka was there to help fill that void.
Goretzka, had a brace, including a beautiful free kick, which garnered him the Man of the Match award voted on by fans. Goretzka tallied 52% of the vote for his standout performance:
There was obviously a very strong case to be made for Heidenheim attacker Budu Zivzivadze, who also had two goals and
was a eat for the visitors.
As for Goretzka, the Germany international is trying to exit the club in style and this was a good step in that direction. Overall, Goretzka completed 48 of his 56 passes, including 3 of 4 long balls. Goretzka also had 5 defensive contributions and only lost possession 9 times, while playing the whole game.
Now, the team will turn its focus to preparing for the second leg of its Champions League tie with Paris Saint-Germain. That match will require every player to give a top effort. Will the Bavarians be ready?
