Barcelona sporting director Deco has reportedly met with the agent of Real Sociedad defender Jon Martin as he continues the search to strengthen the defence.
Alessandro Bastoni has emerged as the club’s top defensive target, but Martin also appears to be on the club’s radar, according to Sport.
Martin has been attracting admirers this season after impressing for La Real and may be a lower cost option than Bastoni.
The defender is currently valued at around 20 million euros, but is believed to have a release
clause of 50 million euros in his contract which runs until 2031.
The meeting between Deco and Martin’s agent, Iñaki Ibáñez, is described as “informal” and was a case of the Barca chief sounding out whether the Real Sociedad star could be tempted away from the club.
Martin has played 25 times for La Real this season and was part of the team that won the Copa del Rey last weekend, beating Atletico Madrid in the final.
