News broke Monday that Bayern Munich had reached agreement on personal terms with Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson. But with the fiscally-minded Bavarians supposedly searching for only loans at this stage of the transfer window, an agreement between the clubs could be complicated.
Daily Mail reporter Kieran Gill reported on Chelsea’s desired terms — apparently, a permanent transfer with a fee of £80m for Jackson, and half that for another Bayern target on the Blues, Christopher Nkunku. Complicating
this further is that Chelsea supposedly need to make sales before signing transfer target Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig. All told, that is a lot of moving parts in attack.
The Daily Telegraph’s Matt Law reports that if not Bayern, Jackson could see a move to another ‘huge’ club — and raises the possibility of a loan, but only with a mandatory buy clause. As captured by @iMiaSanMia:
There remains a belief that Bayern or another huge club could yet make a late play for Nicolas Jackson. The Senegalese forward could leave Chelsea permanently or on loan with an obligation for a permanent deal next summer [@Matt_Law_DT]
At that price, it seems as if the clubs could not be further apart. Stranger things have happened. Or have they?
