Jake “The Snake” Roberts recently revealed he re-signed with WWE following his departure from AEW, and he also shared some thoughts about his recent former employer, Tony Khan.
While speaking to wrestling podcaster Nick Teodoro, Roberts said he had a new agreement with WWE and is “doing some stuff for them.”
The casual announcement comes months after legendary wrestling journalist Bill Apter broke the news that The Snake had parted ways with AEW.
After first showing up in a promo for Tony Khan’s promotion
in 2019, Roberts began to serve as Lance Archer’s manager in AEW the following year, though he had disappeared from AEW programming for some time before his exit was made public.
Despite no longer working for Khan, Roberts still had kind words about the AEW owner/CEO, though he also offered some constructive criticism.
Speaking to Teodoro for his Nick Club Wrestling Happy Hour show, Jake contrasted the creative decisions between AEW and WWE, saying “there’s a lot of differences.”
“Creative, number one, no doubt. Tony Khan needs to loosen up the reins a little bit and take some advice. He’s got a good product. He’s got a lot of talent in there,” Roberts said.
The WWE Hall of Famer added: “I think his talent could be used better. That’s my own thoughts.”
Nonetheless, he said he “loved” working for Khan.
“I wish him nothing but the best,” Roberts said. “He’s a sweet guy.”
