The Green Bay Packers have worked out three players following their win against the New York Jets, according to the NFL transaction wire. Generally, the Packers do workouts on their “off” day on Tuesday, but with them playing a Thursday Night Football game this week, Green Bay will be cramming all week.
The players brought in are safeties Chris Edmonds, Wande Owens and Juanyeh Thomas.
Chris Edmonds
Notably, Chris Edmonds is a former pre-draft visitor with the Packers. Already this season, Green Bay has added two players to their practice squad who were previously visitors: running back Damon Bankston and defensive tackle Eric Johnson II. Usually, they’re much more interested in visitors than non-visitors, when they become available (either when they’re coming out of college or down the line).
Edmonds is a third-year player who was waived by the Cleveland Browns at the cutdown deadline. While the former undrafted player played 11 regular-season games over two seasons in Cleveland, he only got on the field for 11 defensive snaps compared to 175 special teams looks. Assume that he’s more of a special teams player than a defender.
This appears to be Edmonds’ first workout since being let go by the Browns.
Wande Owens
It appears that Wande Owens, who signed with the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted free agent, tore his ACL back in 2025, which led to him being placed on the injured reserve before his rookie preseason was even over. He was let go in late July of 2026, but re-signed with the Bills before this year’s preseason after workouts with several teams. He hasn’t played in a regular-season game, and this appears to be his first workout since he was waived at the cutdown deadline.
Juanyeh Thomas
Juanyeh Thomas, like Chris Edmonds, is another special teams contributor, but he’s played significantly more defense than Edmonds in his NFL career. Thomas signed with the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent back in 2022 and stuck on the team for four seasons before being signed by the Indianapolis Colts. He was waived by the Colts at the cutdown deadline.
In total, Thomas played 36 games and made 4 starts on defense with the Cowboys. Over his entire NFL career, he’s played 550 snaps of defense and 706 snaps of special teams. Over the 2023 and 2024 seasons, he played some of the most special teams reps in the league (599).
The highlight of his special teams career, at least so far, was him returning an onside kick for a touchdown back in 2024. Funny enough, he’s the brother of Azareye’h Thomas, a cornerback who just played against the Packers yesterday.
Since being released by the Colts, Thomas has visited the Pittsburgh Steelers, Houston Texans and Cleveland Browns before his stop in Green Bay.

The Packers currently have a full 53-man roster and practice squad (though that might change if WR Jayden Reed and RT Zach Bako-Bewele end up going on the injured reserve), so they’ll need to make corresponding roster moves to sign any of these players. For reference, here’s how Green Bay’s practice squad looks right now:
- QB Kedon Slovis
- RB Pierre Strong Jr.
- RB Damon Bankston
- WR Isaiah Neyor
- WR Quincy Skinner Jr.
- OT/OG Dalton Cooper
- OG Josh Gesky
- OG/OC Dillon Wade
- OG Cordell Volson
- DL Eric Johnson II
- ED Nyjalik Kelly
- ED Arron Mosby (really a special teamer)
- LB Kristian Welch (really a special teamer)
- CB Domani Jackson
- S Khalef Kailassie
- K Lenny Krieg (international exemption)
Kailassie, the Packers’ current practice squad safety, was added to the team during Week 1, so they have committed little to him. For what it’s worth, Green Bay is a little short on defensive back bodies, though, as they only have 11 players in the secondary, despite having 70 players on the 53-man roster and practice squad, barely more than the two-deep once you include the nickelback. Below is the positional breakdown of the Packers’ roster, including their practice squad:
- QB: 3
- RB: 5 (1 exempt)
- WR: 8 (1 IR-DFR)
- TE: 5 (1 PUP)
- OL: 14
- DL: 8 (1 PUP)
- ED: 6 (1 IR-DFR, 1 PUP)
- LB: 6
- CB: 6
- S: 5
- K: 2
- P: 1
Here are all of the players the Packers have worked out since the cutdown deadline:
- QB Jack Plummer
- QB Cam Miller
- RB Phil Mafah (signed by Giants)
- RB Damon Bankston (signed by Packers)
- RB Ian Wheeler
- WR Nick Nash
- WR Bryce Oliver (signed by Texans)
- WR Quincy Skinner Jr. (signed by Packers)
- TE Cody Hardy
- OL Cordell Volson (signed by Packers)
- DL Zxavian Harris (they got in trouble for this)
- DL Eric Johnson II (signed by Packers)
- DL Jalen Hunt
- ED Cruz Smith (international exemption player from Australia, per sources)
- CB Ambry Thomas
- S Sanoussi Kane
- S Kahlef Hailassie (signed by Packers)
- S John Saunders Jr. (signed by Jets)
- S Chris Edmonds
- S Wande Owens
- S Juanyeh Thomas
