During an interview on the Battleground Podcast, TNA President Carlos Silva was asked about how close the company is to signing a “major TV rights deal.”
Silva says they now have an interested partner, and he thinks the deal is “pretty close” to happening:
“What I can tell you is that we’re closer. What I can tell you is that we’re no longer just talking. What I can tell you is that we’re now in the middle of the deal. And so the good news is that the process is started, we’re working through the details,
and I feel really good about it. I’m very excited about the partner. I think they’re excited about us. That’s why it feels good.
But like everything, we just kinda got to get through the paperwork, understand, sort of, final deal terms, and certain things where there’s gonna be a little push and pull from both sides. But as recently as yesterday, when we were exchanging things back and forth, we’re in that process. So I feel good about it. I don’t think it’s gonna take much longer, because I think we’re pretty close. And everyone seems enthusiastic to get a deal done, which is always the best feeling when you enter into these kind of deals with big distributors, big companies. But so far, so good. I’m excited about it.”
Silva also said to expect an announcement before the end of 2025:
“Yeah. We have to, actually, because the deal that we’re contemplating starts at the beginning of 2026. So, being October 1st, the timing is great. We can get some things done, dot the i’s, cross the t’s, and then really put our efforts around marketing and packaging, so that we launch ourselves into 2026.”
It doesn’t take a genius to see that part of WWE’s strategy for putting AEW out of business involves giving a boost to TNA Wrestling. Santino Marella has gone as far as to say that TNA will quickly become the number two wrestling promotion as soon as TNA signs the big TV deal. I guess Santino didn’t hear Silva’s previous interviews where he indicated the goal is to sign a deal in the range of 10 million dollars per year.
One of the most interesting things wrestling fans want to know about TNA’s new TV deal is if it involves Impact going live every week, and possibly moving to Wednesday nights to air opposite AEW Dynamite.
How do you think the landscape of pro wrestling will change in the short-term and long-term if TNA signs this TV deal for the start of 2026? Let me know in the comments below, Cagesiders.
