Former SEC Defensive Star Kyle Kennard Signs as Eagles’ Injury Woes Grow
Not a whole lot going on outside the team bringing in five players for workouts today: DB D’Anthony Bell, LB Kyle Kennard, LB Jamie Sheriff, DB Malik Spencer, and DB Delarrin Turner-Yell. The Commanders reportedly signed Kyle Kennard to their practice
squad, a player they were interested in during last year’s draft before being selected in the fourth round. There have been some issues with his health in past years, but he’s healthy now. Kennard was named the SEC Defensive Player of the Year at South Carolina in 2024 after recording 11.5 sacks.
The Philadelphia Eagles have lost their last five games in a row after starting the season 2-0, and they likely feel their backfield is cursed at the moment. Saquon Barkley returned Monday after missing a couple of games with a hamstring injury and had seven carries for 62 yards and a touchdown despite dealing with a back issue that limited his time on the field. His backup, Dameon Pierce, left Monday’s game with an injury. After the game, Barkley said, “My hamstring came out great,” and he doesn’t expect the back issue to keep him out of Sunday’s game.

Five 2027 draft prospects who can help Washington’s roster
Leonard Moore, CB, Notre Dame
Washington’s secondary has given up the fourth-most yards and touchdowns through six games in 2026. Mike Sainristil has been a liability at corner, giving up multiple big plays that forced him out of the starting lineup. Trey Amos recently returned from injury, and Amik Robertson has been a hit after signing a two-year deal over the offseason. Moore is considered the top cornerback prospect in 2027 after being named an All-American as a sophomore, when he picked five passes. He hasn’t recorded any interceptions in 2026, but that may be because quarterbacks haven’t wanted to test him. If he is on the board when Washington selects, it might be hard to pass him up.

Antonio Williams poised for bigger role in Commanders’ offense
The Washington Commanders need answers at wide receiver now that Terry McLaurin has been ruled out for the season.
They will not come from Stefon Diggs, whose workload should not increase in spite of the injury, according to head coach Dann Quinn. Instead, the Commanders plan to lean on their depth, and Quinn believes rookie Antonio Williams is ready for more responsibility.
“Antonio is one that you’d see getting more targets,” Quinn said Monday.

Larry Ogunjobi would be a low-risk, high-reward stopgap for the Commanders
Head coach Dan Quinn confirmed that Kinlaw wouldn’t practice to start the week as he recovers from a knee injury. Perhaps tellingly, he also acknowledged that he is not progressing as quickly as the team hoped, which is the last thing they need right now.
The Commanders may be content to move forward with what they have. But given their lack of viable alternatives, outside help might be the best option if Kinlaw is forced to miss time.
And general manager Adam Peters could do far worse than bring in Larry Ogunjobi for a workout.
Ogunjobi has had a productive career. He looked like a potential superstar in his early years with the Cleveland Browns, and that trend continued after he joined the Pittsburgh Steelers. Things fizzled out in the AFC North, but the Buffalo Bills gave the player a shot to shine in 2025.
Aside from a few flashes, Ogunjobi underwhelmed. He was also suspended for the first six games of the campaign, which saw his stock plummet.
The 2017 third-round pick out of Charlotte has been looking for work ever since his contract expired, to no avail. Ogunjobi recently worked out with the San Francisco 49ers, but they didn’t agree to a deal afterward. This wouldn’t be a sure thing from Washington’s standpoint, but if Kinlaw cannot go, a tryout wouldn’t be the worst idea in the world.
Ogunjobi can tackle. He can hold his own against the run, and his 27.5 career sacks prove he can generate pressure when opportunities arise.

Mailbag: What’s up with Jayden?
Seems that national media is starting to get on the blame Jayden Daniels train. Is there any real reason to blame Jayden based on film, because stats-wise it seems he’s the only bright spot for the offense. — Logan H.
Jayden Daniels has faced more scrutiny in his third season than he did in his record-setting rookie campaign.Thearon W. Henderson / Getty Images
He’s been criticized by more than just the national media, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. There have been times when the criticism is warranted. Daniels is a young quarterback. He has made some mistakes and will continue to make some mistakes. That doesn’t mean he’s not a rare talent who can continue to develop into an elite quarterback.
I’ve never gotten the sense Daniels is at all unable to handle it. I think he knows what he signed up for by playing the most important position in the most popular sport in America, and he’s taken accountability for the times he was at fault.
There have been times when I think the criticism has been misplaced based on the information that is known.
The NFL has become a win-now-or-else league, for better or worse. Coaches don’t get nearly as long as they once did to turn around a franchise. And if a player has one good season, it often becomes a benchmark for the rest of his career. Any slight regression, any mistake will lead to exaggerated claims about his future.
That overtime mistake against the Giants? It was bad. Inexplicable. A starting NFL quarterback should have the awareness to avoid such mistakes, no matter the circumstances. And yet, Dak Prescott did something similar in 2021. Kirk Cousins also once made a similar mistake.

Giants roster moves: RB Tyrone Tracy to IR, RB Greg Desrosiers signed
[Note: Washington plays the Giants in Week 10]
The New York Giants have made a trio of roster moves as they enter their BYE week.
The Giants placed RB Tyrone Tracy on the injured reserve with a hamstring injury, per GM Joe Schoen. The team signed RB Greg Desrosiers Jr. off of the Los Angeles Chargers practice squad as the corresponding roster move. The Giants are also adding veteran DL Dean Lowry to their practice squad.
Tracy suffered the hamstring injury on a 7-yard run with 5:29 remaining in the second quarter against the Houston Texans. Tracy had been playing well in an increased role, scoring a touchdown earlier in the game, and that run helping to set up a Jameis Winston touchdown. Tracy’s injury is not considered to be a long-term one, however he’ll have to miss the next four weeks.

Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis play a lot, produce little
Jalen Carter played a lot of snaps and logged zero stats outside of two assisted tackles. The Cowboys’ interior offensive line is good. But Carter is the highest paid interior defensive lineman in the NFL. He is expected to be much better than he was on Monday night.
With Jalyx Hunt and Jonathan Greenard less than 100% while playing through injuries, Arnold Ebiketie was the Eagles’ top edge defender in terms of playing time. He’s a fine rotational player but that workload just isn’t ideal for him. Ditto for A.J. Epenesa playing the second-most edge rusher snaps.
Jordan Davis logged his highest snap count percentage of the season. He logged zero stats outside of four assisted tackles. It’s just not good enough.

NFL trade grades: Evaluating every deal made ahead of the 2026 deadline
DeForest Buckner
SAN FRANCISCO RECEIVES:
- DL DeForest Buckner
GRADE: A-
INDIANAPOLIS RECEIVES:
- 2027 fourth-round pick
GRADE: B+
We didn’t have to wait long to find out how others in the NFC West would react to the Seahawks’ splash move for Quenton Nelson. Hours later, the 49ers bolstered their defensive interior by bringing back Buckner, whom they traded to Indy in 2020.
The reunion was telegraphed for weeks. Buckner, clearly fed up with the mounting losses in Indianapolis, began voicing his displeasure. Couple that with the 49ers’ need along the defensive line, and the move made almost too much sense. The Niners have the cap space to cover the remainder of Buckner’s contract, assuming it’s not adjusted, and are all-in after their first loss of the season.
Bucker has 47.0 sacks since 2020 (tied for second among defensive tackles, behind only Chris Jones’ 55), 122 sacks, 420 tackles and 312 QB pressures. The big man can still be a people mover on the interior. However, the 32-year-old is showing some signs of a slide.
Quenton Nelson
SEATTLE RECEIVES:
- G Quenton Nelson
GRADE: A
INDIANAPOLIS RECEIVES:
- 2027 third-round pick
- 2028 fifth-round pick
GRADE: B
The Seahawks had some sneaky issues along the offensive line despite entering the season with the same five that helped win a Super Bowl. While the run game concerns have mostly been pinned on the running backs, the blocking has struggled to open holes. On 184 RB carries, the Seahawks have just 92 yards before contact this season, per Next Gen Stats, and they’ve been stuffed 37 times. That’s not the type of offense Mike Macdonald wants to employ. Yes, getting Zach Charbonnet and Jadarian Price back healthy could have helped, but general manager John Schneider went to cure the root cause.
Nelson is an eight-time Pro Bowl guard who is still playing at a Hall of Fame level. The 30-year-old can open holes in the run game, is a weapon as a puller, and is superior as a pass protector — in eight seasons in Indy, he allowed no more than eight QB hits in a single season, per PFF. The Seahawks just added the NFL’s most complete guard.
