Despite all of the joy and dominance on the field Saturday night in Notre Dame’s 34-24 victory over USC, one of the few bad things to come out of the game is that Irish offensive lineman, Billy Schrauth, will miss multiple weeks with a knee injury.
The captain from Wisconsin was having a dominant performance before going down multiple times — and even after he was out there moving bodies. Schrauth played most of the game with a MCL sprain as he helped the Irish seal the win on the ground with over 300 yards rushing.
3-4 weeks is likely more like 5-6 weeks, so once again, it’s next man in for the Irish along the offensive line. Notre Dame should be big favorites in its remaining five games of the season, and for a solid player like Sullivan Absher (Schrauth’s replacement) he should be just fine, and he now has a chance to get better on the field as they march toward the playoffs with some real depth.
