Happy Monday, Camden Chatters! I hope you had a nice weekend. When it wasn’t raining, the weather was quite lovely which I will always take in November.
In baseball news, the Arizona Fall League is chugging along. It will finish up on Saturday with a championship game. Over the weekend, they had the Fall Stars game and Home Run Derby. The derby was on Sunday and the lone Orioles’ prospect to participate, Thomas Sosa, came in last place. Whoops. Sosa hit three home runs. The winner was Tony Blanco,
Jr., who is 6’7”, 243 pounds. He hit 24 homers.
In the Fall Stars game, the AL defeated the NL but got no help from Orioles’ prospects. Enrique Bradfield, Jr., went 0-for-3 with three strikeouts. It has been an up-and-down fall for Bradfield, who is getting on base at a decent clip, but that’s all. Fellow outfielder Sosa hasn’t played much but has been pretty bad when he does. He has a .517 OPS. Sosa is not a ranked prospect.
Catcher Ethan Anderson, 2nd round pick in 2024, is having a great time in the AFL. Anderson has hit a home run and six doubles in 64 AB and has an OBP of .408. He was less impressive with Aberdeen and Chesapeake this year with a combined OPS of .677. So it’s nice to see him do well.
There wasn’t anything in the way of big league news over the weekend aside from the front office promotions. They added Anthony Nunez to the 40-man roster late last week. Nunez is a righty relief pitcher who the Orioles acquired in the Cedric Mullins trade. He was having a fine season with the Mets’ Double-A team before the trade and put up a 3.45 ERA and 0.894 WHIP in 16 games with the Triple-A Norfolk Tides. He held opposing batters to a .125 batting average in that span.
The Orioles also exercised their option on Andrew Kittredge, which was a no-brainer given that they traded for him just days earlier.
It will probably be another slow week for the Orioles and around baseball. It’s too early for the big free agents. Maybe we’ll get more news on the coaching staff to get us through the doldrums.

Birthdays and History
Is today your birthday? Happy birthday! I’m sorry to inform you that of all the people to ever play for the Baltimore Orioles, none of them was born on November 10th. Some other people born on this day are actor Hugh Bonneville (62), rapper Warren G (55), and country singer Miranda Lambert (42).
The Orioles have had just two transactions on this day in history. In 2009, they signed Michel Hernández. In 2006, Josh Phelps. Neither ever played for the big league team.
On this day in 2009, Adam Jones won the first of his four career Gold Gloves. In 2015, Manny Macho won his second. He hasn’t won another since, which seems wild.
