Welcome to the Friday Tailgate, the place where we hang out while we wait for the real college football action to begin. You’ve got to be somewhere between now and kickoff, it might as well be here. Maestro, the tailgate music, and supersize it, please:
Last week we picked some of the really good football games being played to open the college football season. This week’s slate is, well, not as good. Florida State for example is playing East Texas A&M which, given that College Station is pretty far
east in the state of Texas, seems like a bit of a redundancy. Georgia of course is playing Austin Peay in a game expected to be so uncompetitive that Vegas declined to even put Jimmy and Knuckles to work creating a betting line. What’s a blogger to do?
Easy. We’ll resort to our old stand-by, a game of ““Over or Under.” As I like to say, it’s so easy an Auburn grad could understand the rules (though you might have to explain them twice). I’ll set out a numerical proposition related to tomorrow’a contest and you guess whether the reality will be more (over) or less (under).
For example, if I say “MaconDawg will consume 14.5 Chick-Fil-A chicken nuggets before kickoff” and you think I’ll consume only 14, you’d guess ““under.” If however you’ve ever met me or seen me at a tailgate you would very wisely know that I’ll probably hit 15 before College Game Day gets cranked up and say “over.” It’s really that simple. So now that we all know the rules, I ask you, over or under?
