The LSU Tigers made a statement on Saturday with a dominant 31-0 victory over the Mississippi State Bulldogs, bouncing back from a heartbreaking overtime loss to Kentucky.
Quarterback Sam Leavitt delivered an impressive performance, completing 31 of 38 passes for 289 yards and four touchdowns without an interception. The Tigers’ offense found its rhythm early, building a 21-0 halftime lead.
Defensively, LSU was just as impressive, recording its first home shutout against an SEC opponent since 2006.
The Tigers controlled the game from start to finish and showed the kind of complete performance fans have been waiting to see.
At 5-2, the Tigers still have work to do. With losses to Ole Miss and Kentucky, there is little room for another setback. LSU now heads to Auburn for a crucial SEC showdown against a team fresh off an upset victory over Georgia.
The talent is there, and Saturday’s performance gave Tiger fans plenty of reasons for optimism. But consistency will determine whether LSU can make a serious playoff push.
