The TCU Horned Frogs took another notable blow on the offensive end Monday, when Steven Johnson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported that redshirt freshman running back Nate Palmer will enter the transfer
portal after two seasons with the team. Palmer, a former three-star prospect who held offers from Arkansas, Auburn, Florida State, Miami and more, appeared in 12 games over his two-year stint in Fort Worth, rushing for 164 yards on 41 carries while adding one reception. The 6-foot, 195-pounder from Decatur, Texas was unable to crack the depth chart this season, playing behind transfer Kevorian Barnes, Jeremy Payne and Trent Battle.
Palmer will depart with three years of eligibility remaining. With Barnes and Battle out of eligibility and Palmer entering the transfer portal, TCU will need Payne and true freshman Jon Denman to step up next season. There’s also a chance the Horned Frogs, who recently hired former UConn offensive coordinator Gordon Sammis, could bring in Huskie running back Cam Edwards, another portal entrant. TCU also has two 2026 running back recruits, three-star G’Ivori Graham and four-star Amante Martin, joining the program soon.
