Sidney Crosby has been listed as the 12th best player in the National Hockey League, according to the NHL Network’s “Top 50 Players Right Now” series.
Ahead of the upcoming 2026-27 NHL season, the NHL Network is releasing its annual ranking of the top players in the league, and once again, Crosby is near the top of the list.
Crosby, who turned 39 last month, and is entering the final year of his contract with the Penguins, was listed no. 7 in last year’s rankings and no. 11 in last year’s rankings.
“We’ve loved watching him play for 21 years,” said former NHL goaltender and current NHL Network analyst Cory Schneider. “It’s incredible the way he’s shown up since he stepped foot in this league and has been one of the best players in the league. This is unheard of.”
Last season, Crosby secured his 21st straight year with a point per game average or higher, an NHL record.
The Penguins will take the ice tonight for the team’s first game of the preseason when they host the Buffalo Sabres. Puck drop is slated for 7 p.m. at PPG Paints Arena.
