Sunderland have been linked with one of the hottest up-and-coming prospects in South American football, according to reports in Argentina.
Bruno Cabral has been catching the headlines due to his goalscoring
prowess, with the 15-year-old recently ending up top scorer in the Messi Cup. Scoring both goals in the final in a 2-0 win over Atletico Madrid and ended up with 7 goals in 5 games, which saw him named player of the tournament.
The Messi Cup was an eight team tournament featuring both aforementioned teams, along with Manchester City, Inter Miami, Newell’s Old Boys, Chelsea, Inter Milan and Barcelona.
His goalscoring doesn’t just stop with the Messi Cup however, with the River Plate youngster scoring 13 in 9 for Argentina’s youth teams, 26 in as many games in the Ninth Division during 2024 and then 34 in 28 in the Eighth Division.

Diario Río Negro say Bruno Cabral is on the radar of Sunderland, as well as German sides, Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen. Although he cannot sign a contract until he is 16, Diario Registrado say River Plate have set a €100m buyout.

“I like to drop deep to start attacks or help win back possession. I make diagonal runs and have the power and speed to attack and finish well. I’m a quick player in one-on-one situations, with dribbling skills and physical strength. I often score goals and, above all, I like to play for the team. I participate in the play and can provide assists for my teammates to score.“
