Enrique Riquelme has published a statement announcing that his candidacy will contact Jürgen Klopp next week if he wins the upcoming elections. Contrary to some reports by the aggregators on Social Media, Riquelme has not announced Klopp as his coach.
“We know that Jürgen Klopp has publicly stated that he has no intention of returning
to the bench in the short term and that he has turned down numerous offers. That is precisely why we believe that the challenge at Real Madrid is different. Because there are great clubs, but there is only one Real Madrid. There is only one institution capable of uniting tradition and the future, values and ambition, passion and excellence.
Therefore, if the members place their trust in me this Sunday, next Monday, June 8th, Raúl González Blanco will contact Jürgen Klopp to personally present our sporting project and our desire for him to lead a new era for Real Madrid from the bench.
This decision by the sporting team aligns with the sentiment of the thousands of members and Madridistas with whom I have had the opportunity to speak over the past two weeks.”
This announcement should not be a surprise and it’s hardly moving the needle for the socios, given that Riquelme just confirmed that his sporting director will approach Klopp.
