Barcelona Femení are back at work getting ready for a new campaign looking to defend last season’s historic Quadruple, and the world’s best player is ready to reclaim her throne.
Aitana Bonmatí joined her teammates in training this week after working very hard in the summer with a personal trainer to strengthen her ankle, which was broken back in November and caused her to miss the vast majority of the season and only play a minor part in Barça’s success in 2025-26.
The three-time Ballon d’Or winner
posted pictures of her return to training with the caption “Starting my 15th season at Barça, more than half my life. With great desire to enjoy football again after a complicated and different year.”
This will be a big season for Aitana, who becomes the undisputed leader of the team with the summer departures of legendary figures like Mapi León and Alexia Putellas.
Aitana was already known as the best player in the world but now has even more responsibility as one of the most experienced members of the squad, and will be looking to lead a young Barça Femení side to another successful season.
