Real Madrid are still keeping tabs on Borussia Dortmund defender Nico Schlotterbeck, according to reports from Germany.
Sky Sport have reported that Madrid have not forgotten about the German center-back, who has been followed by the club for some time. Schlotterbeck is reportedly third on Real Madrid’s list of potential defensive targets as the club continues to evaluate options for the future.
The Dortmund defender, currently with Germany at the World Cup, was asked about the reported interest from
Real Madrid.
“Yes, of course you find out about these things through the media, but basically, as I said a few weeks ago, now all the attention is focused on the World Cup, on the first match,” Schlotterbeck said.
Schlotterbeck only recently renewed his contract with Borussia Dortmund, but reports indicate that his deal includes a clause allowing him to leave for a club outside the Bundesliga for a fee in the region of €50 million.
Real Madrid are expected to have a busy summer as they assess their defensive needs, and Schlotterbeck appears to remain one of the names on the club’s radar.
