Aztecs dominate the Golden Bears.
In a result absolutely no one saw coming, San Diego State shocked Cal Saturday night. Both teams started slow, but the Aztecs were the only team that ever got going at all, shutting out the Golden Bears 34-0. The offense was good enough, moving the ball
and finding the endzone thanks to some big passing plays and consistent running. However, the SDSU defense was strong from start to finish. They held Cal to 65 rushing yards and kept phenom QB Jaron Keawe Sagapolutele from getting comfortable, resulting in the worst performance of his young career. He ended up throwing two interceptions, part of 3 Cal turnovers on the night, including a 97-yard pick-six by Chris Johnson to serve as the dagger blow in this game.
Rebels survive to move to 4-0
Ugly wins still count as wins. UNLV is thankful for that, as they had to overcome multiple 14-point deficits to pull out a win against Miami (OH), who also lost their starting quarterback for most of this game. The offense battled back, with big plays from Jai’Den Thomas, but the defense is worrisome. With the victory, the Rebels are now 4-0,
Broncos run past the Falcons in a high-scoring affair.
If you hate good defenses and love penalties, this game was for you. It also featured a big running attack by Boise State, with RB Dylan Riley scoring five touchdowns, and Air Force QB Liam Szarke passing for 242 yards. It was a close game all night, with both teams finding easy scoring drives, until a Falcon interception late sealed the win for the Broncos.
Bulldogs top Rainbow Warriors in a close one.
It was a close game all four quarters with a few different lead changes, but Fresno State came out on top over Hawaii in this game. Neither offense played well, with Hawaii QB Micah Alejado throwing three interceptions and Fresno State’s rushing attack being held to 64 yards on the ground. And the Bulldog special teams was an adventure, with kicker Dylan Lynch missing his first three field goals before connecting on one in the fourth quarter, and a pick-six from K’vion Thunderbird sealed the deal. Fresno State moves to 4-1 on this season.
