Arizona’s loss to Texas Tech on Saturday wasn’t enough to dislodge the Wildcats from the national rankings.
Arizona (6-2) is ranked No. 24 in this week’s AP Top 25, down two spots from last week. The UA received 154 points, which is a big drop from a week ago but still 60 points higher than the No. 25-ranked Florida Gators.
Arizona is ranked for the third consecutive week in-season for the first time since 2023.
Utah is the highest-ranked Big 12 team at No. 3 in the poll. If the Utes defeat No. 7 BYU
this Saturday, they’ll come to Tucson the following Saturday with at minimum a top-three ranking. Utah could potentially move a spot or two up the rankings if it wins and Georgia loses to Ole Miss (or voters elevate Utah above a one-loss Bulldogs) or if Miami loses at Notre Dame.
Interestingly, Texas Tech didn’t move up the rankings after beating the Wildcats. The Red Raiders are No. 13 in the country.
Houston, which is tied with Arizona in the Big 12 standings, moved up one spot to No. 17.
The USA Today Coaches poll has Arizona ranked No. 22.
Arizona faces TCU on Friday night at 8:15 p.m. MST.
