Head Coach Jamie Morrison’s Texas A&M Volleyball squad just didn’t want their season to end yet. After a thrilling reverse sweep of 3 seed Louisville on Friday night, the Aggies did something even more
improbable: Take down undefeated No. 1 overall seed Nebraska on their own court.
After A&M took each of the first two sets 25-22, Nebraska rallied in the third set to take it 25-20 and stay alive. The 4th set was then an absolute barn burner, with Nebraska getting to set point a whopping ten times before finally winning it 37-25 to force a 5th set. From there, the Ags closed it out 15-13 to win the match – and celebration ensued For the Aggies, it marks their first trip to the national semifinals in program history. In fact, prior to this season, Texas A&M had only made it to the Elite Eight to other times, with the most recent coming in 2001. This also marked only the second time A&M has defeated a No. 1 team, the last one happening in 1995 against Stanford.
Meanwhile, the Cornhuskers’ season ends short of the national semifinals for just the third time in the past 10 seasons.
This marks the first time in program history that Aggie Volleyball has advanced to the Final Four, doing so in just the third year under Coach Morrison. Prior to his time with in Aggieland, Morrison was a part of three United States Olympic medal-winning squads, as he won gold with the men’s team in Beijing (2008), then silver and bronze with the women’s teams in London (2012) and Rio (2016), respectively.
The 2025 NCAA Women’s Volleyball Final Four is happening Dec. 18 and 21 at the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri. Games will air on ESPN and ABC.
