What is the story about?
Portland Trail Blazers guard Ja Morant has suffered a Grade 2 hamstring strain and will be re-evaluted in four weeks, the team announced today.
Morant left Thursday’s game against the Grizzlies early in the fourth quarter after feeling a “twinge” in his hamstring, according to head coach Micah Nori.
Grade 2 hamstring strains are defined as a “moderate strain with some muscle tearing (a partial tear)” per the Cleveland Clinic. The clinic notes that recovery from either a Grade 2 or Grade 3 hamstring strain can
take “several months.”
Across the first four games of the 2026-2026 season, Morant averaged 15.8 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 5.5 assists on 25.8 minutes per night.
