Opposite him for the O’s is fellow southpaw Trevor Rogers, who has recorded quality starts in six of his last seven games and his last three straight; he missed out on seven straight QSs by falling an inning short of the minimum in a game that he threw five shutout innings. Over that stretch, the 28-year-old put up a 1.44 ERA and 2.45 FIP spanning across 43 2/3 frames of work, surrendering 31 hits (one home run) and 12 walks while striking out 39 batters.
Rogers faced the Tigers earlier this season on May 24 in the second game of a doubleheader, coughing up four runs on four hits (one home run) and two walks while striking out a pair in 4 2/3 innings to earn his sixth loss of the season in a 4-1 final at Camden Yards.
