Barcelona goalkeeper Joan Garcia appears to have confirmed he will not return to action in time for El Clasico at the Santiago Bernabeu on October 26th.
The stopper is currently recovering from knee surgery
and has been ruled out for 4-6 weeks by Barcelona, but there had been hope he could be back in time to face Los Blancos.
However, Garcia has offered a few words on his current situation when he was spotted watching Barcelona’s basketball team in action and isn’t expecting to return for several weeks.
Garcia was present along with team-mate Eric Garcia and told Movistar his recovery is “going very well” and that he “has about a month left.”
The news means that Wojciech Szczęsny looks set to face Madrid. The Poland international admitted earlier this week that he wasn’t counting on playing and was hoping Garcia would be back.
“I sincerely wish him a speedy recovery. And I’m not counting on playing in El Clasico myself,” he told SportoweFatky.
Barcelona return to action after the international break against Girona and then face Olympiacos in the Champions League before heading to the Bernabeu.
