The Arizona Cardinals and the rest of the NFL must get their roster trimmed to 53 by 3:00 p.m. today for the beginning of the 2026 season.
It is rough to see your favorite team so poorly thought of before a snap has even been played, but that is where the Arizona Cardinals are, as our friends at FanDuel Sportsbook have the Cardinals as the biggest week one underdogs at +10.5 to the Los Angeles Chargers.
Yet, the initial 53-man roster is just the first step, it will change nearly daily for the rest
of the season, while teams look to create the best roster they can field.
Once the waiver wire process is completed, the Arizona Cardinals and the rest of the NFL will begin to create their practice squad.
The practice squad is made up 16 players (17 if the team has an international player from the Player Pathway Program) that either cleared waivers or have the four or more accrued seasons and were not subject to the waiver wire (there has been speculation that this is how the Arizona Cardinals handle James Conner until he is ready to help on Sunday’s).
Waivers will be processed August 31st at 1:00 pm ET and then practice squads can begin to be built.
We will have all of that movement here for you.
