Duke Tobin made it clear the Cincinnati Bengals were ‘all in’ this offseason as the team desperately searches to get back into playoff contention in 2026.
The Bengals fired off day one with two big-time signings to help bolster their defense in Bryan Cook and Boye Mafe.
The more you look into defensive end Boye Mafe, the more similar the signing looks to the Bengals snagging Trey Hendrickson back in 2021.
The Bengals are likely looking for another Hendrickson-like breakout player with Mafe based on his
production and numbers so far in his career.
Per Andrew Russell, Hendrickson joined the Bengals with a 10.2% win rate, 113 pressures, and 21 sacks in his career with the New Orleans Saints.
Mafe now joins the Bengals with very similar stats: An 11% win rate, 161 pressures, and 20 sacks in his career so far, while previously a member of the Seattle Seahawks.
It is no secret that Mafe has incredible athletic abilities and has been able to get around the quarterback the past few years. Now, it is time for him to finish these pressures with sacks across from Myles Murphy and with the help of Shemar Stewart.
