Khamzat Chimaev is determined to get Alex Pereira in the cage with him.
It’s no secret Chimaev wants to take on “Poatan” with the chance to capture the UFC light heavyweight title and become a two-division champion. Chimaev has publicly called out Pereira on several occasions, recently telling ESPN that Pereira was “running away” from a potential matchup.
On Monday, Chimaev continued his campaign, writing on Twitter, “Let’s go White House. Don’t worry, I will finish you fast [Pereira].
Pereira, currently
in his second reign as 205-pound champion is yet to respond. However, he recently suggested it’s unlikely he fights at the historic White House card, writing on social media that it “Looks like the White House is a NO GO!!!” Pereira hasn’t been on the shelf long, having regained his title with a first-round knockout of rival Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 320 in October.
This past August, Chimaev finally completed a long-anticipated run to UFC gold, defeating Dricus du Plessis in a one-sided fight at UFC 319 to become middleweight champion. He improved to 15-0 with the victory and now wants to add Pereira to his impressive list of victories, which includes du Plessis and former champions Robert Whittaker and Kamaru Usman.
“All Brazilian fans, tell this boy if you’re not scared tell him to fight,” Chimaev later added.
UFC White House is tentatively scheduled to take place on June 14, ahead of the 250th anniversary of the United States Declaration of Independence in July. No bouts have been made official for the event.
