For the rookies, undrafted free agents and veterans who gathered in Orchard Park Friday and Saturday, Rookie Minicamp represented their first opportunity to make a great impression on Brandon Beane and Joe Brady while stating their case to earn a spot on the Buffalo Bills roster.
Today’s edition of Buffalo Rumblinks leads off by hearing what rookie edge rusher TJ Parker, cornerback Davison Igbinosun, and wide receiver Skyler Bell (pictured below) took away from their first taste of life in the NFL,
including why Parker thinks Buffalo’s new defensive identity will be “fast, physical and nasty,” how Buffalo’s coaches are influencing Igbinosun, and how Bell “was flowing” during seven-on-seven drills.
Observations from Rookie Minicamp
Fourth-round wide receiver Skyler Bell wanted to make a strong first impression on Joe Brady and Brandon Beane, but he admitted he felt nervous during the first official football practice of his NFL career. Those nerves showed through early on, when Bell dropped three passes, prompting Brady to approach his newest wide receiver and offer up some advice.
“He was just telling me just to be myself and stop overthinking,” Bell told New York Upstate’s Matt Parino. “That’s all it is with me. I was just in my head a little bit and getting jitters and things like that. And he was just telling me just be yourself and once you’re here, you’re here for a reason.”
We run through some other observations from Rookie Minicamp, including how fourth-round linebacker Kaleb Elarms-Orr (pictured below) was flying across the field while making several big plays, and how undrafted free agent Bruno Fina, son of former Bills left tackle John Fina, made the most of his first time on the practice field.
