It’s a big one this weekend, as Tottenham Hotspur come over for the latest bit of Battling at the Bridge. Spurs finally got their first win of the season on Monday, and they’ll surely will want the DVD-production line going with an even rarer win against Chelsea.
And that makes it even more imperative that we keep our good form going, now with back-to-back wins following the lengthy international break. Last weekend’s trip to Everton even saw us keep an exceedingly unfamiliar clean sheet, our first
in 23 tries in the league.
That 2-0 win did come at a cost, with Emiliano Martínez suffering a fractured jaw. He’s out for the next 6-7 weeks at least, much like Reece James, who had “minor” surgery last week on a knee problem. Emi and Reecey may not be back until the new year, depending on how their recoveries go.
And the fresh injury concerns don’t end there: Pep Chavarría was a late scratch against Everton and though there’s been no word on his status, it’s probably safe to assume that he’s going to miss out this weekend as well (he’s not been seen back in training). Jamie Gittens and Emmanuel Emegha remain out as well.
Malo Gusto also missed out last weekend, though he did so through illness and is thus a lot more likely to be available.
Choose wisely.
