Michigan receiver Donaven McCulley has been signed by the Miami Dolphins.
Michigan fans had a one-year relationship with McCulley — overlooking his double pass touchdown against Michigan in 2023, of course — and he acquitted himself like a veteran. From his disarming smile to his grinding approach, McCulley served as the perfect complement to freshman
phenom Andrew Marsh and eased the burden on the budding star until he was ready for an increased role.
McCulley will be remembered for fighting for contested catches, like the leaping snag over a helpless Oklahoma defender, and becoming the first Michigan wide receiver to have a 100-yard game since Roman Wilson against Purdue in 2023.
A steadying force, McCulley caught a pass in every game in 2025 and was frequently seen making life miserable for defensive backs in the run game. With his blue-collar approach and persistent physicality, McCulley felt destined always to be a Wolverine.
Maize n Brew Scouting Report
McCulley possesses ideal size and hands for an NFL wide receiver, and his tenacity as a blocker is going to endear him to every member of the coaching staff. Still exceedingly raw as a route-runner who operates at one speed and struggles to separate, McCulley will have to continue to develop and hone the nuances of his craft if he is going to crack a wide receiver rotation at the next level.
