Ricochet has a taste for gold, and he wants more. The AEW national champion believes that he has the recipe for success to win more titles in CMLL.
Ricochet is headlining CMLL’s show in Arena Mexico on Friday night (Jan. 16, 2026) by defending the AEW National Championship against Titan. Ricochet sat down for a virtual press conference with Mas Lucha to hype the match.
Ricochet praised Titan as a beast in the ring. He even went so far to consider Titan as almost a friend from their time together in NJPW.
Ricochet understands that the fans have expectations of a long match with plenty of thrills. None of that will matter when the AEW National Championship is on the line. Ricochet plans to hit Titan on the jaw with the Spirit Gun and win in less than five minutes. Keeping the title is the only thing that matters.
Ricochet explained that CMLL is the perfect place to show his dominance. When asked about desire to win CMLL titles, Ricochet didn’t lack confidence. He believes that the Demand have the perfect recipe for success.
I think CMLL is the perfect place for us three as the Demand to come into this company and show our dominance. And show why Toa Liona is the strongest man in AEW. To show why Bishop Kaun is the wild card, and he will pop off at any time, he will cause chaos at any time. And then when you have all of that mixed in with me, and you have my intellect, you have my genius, you have my skills. You put all of that together, it is a recipe for success. And AEW, CMLL, New Japan, wherever it takes us around the world, us as the Demand are looking for gold.
I think this weekend in CMLL, we’re going to show exactly that. We’re going to show the world, not just CMLL, but we’re going show the world that we’re ready for the gold. And then those (CMLL) trios championships? All we need is one shot. All we need is one opportunity, and we got that. So, I believe we will be walking out with those championships. Because, man, we look good, and then just to have these championships around our waists will look even better.
To be clear, the Demand do not have a CMLL trios title shot lined up yet. Ricochet and the Gates of Agony will be featured in CMLL for international weekend on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. That is the stage for the Demand to impress toward future title shots.
The Friday night lineup for CMLL includes:
- AEW International Championship: Ricochet (c) vs. Titan
- #1 contender bout: Hechicero vs. Roderick Strong (winner to challenge Claudio Castagnoli for CMLL World Heavyweight Championship)
- Blue Panther vs. Ultimo Guerrero
- Soberano Jr. & Barbaro Cavernario vs. Gates of Agony (Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona)
- Valiente Jr., Max Star, & Futuro vs. El Cobarde, Felino Jr., & Hijo de Stuka Jr.
- Magia Blanca & El Hijo del Pantera vs. Polvora & El Coyote
This event will be available for live streaming through CMLL’s YouTube monthly subscription at the World Champion and Legend membership tiers. Outside Mexico, the show will also be available through TrillerTV.
On the topic of Ricochet looking good, that is one reason why he won’t wear a mask again, such as his time as Prince Puma in Lucha Underground. The issue is that Ricochet believes his face is too good looking. He has a face that everyone wants to have. Ricochet won’t be covering his face with a mask for a long time, unless the money is right.
Ricochet also praised the relationship between AEW, CMLL, and NJPW. It is a great partnership that works together to expand audiences for each company.
