There is still a whole lot to digest about the Cleveland Browns decision to hire Todd Monken as their next head coach. DC Jim Schwartz has left the building, quite literally, but is still under contract, Monken’s one year with the Browns as offensive coordinator had some interesting comments at the end, and there is still the little detail that Cleveland does not seem to have an answer at quarterback
.Going into the 2025 NFL draft, Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders were seen as the top two options. Ward went
first overall and Sanders, after passing on the Baltimore Ravens interest in him, slid all the way down to the fifth round. Monken was the offensive coordinator for the Ravens at that time, making the pairing notable.
According to former NFL star Kyle Long, Sanders fits Monken’s “style of offense” moving forward:
Despite some very low statistics and analytical data from his rookie season, Sanders was named to the Pro Bowl earlier this week.
While Sanders is now a Pro Bowler and he could fit well with Monken’s offense, many expect Cleveland to add to their quarterback room this offseason, despite limited options in the upcoming NFL draft:
Given Baltimore’s interest in Sanders last year and his potential fit with Monken’s offense, do you think Sanders has a better chance to succeed in Year 2 than if Jim Schwartz or Nate Scheelhaase had gotten the job?
