Bayern Munich rolled into Atletico Madrid’s famous Metropolitano stadium with a laundry list of question marks and left with a renewed sense of confidence. Bayern defeated Atlético with a resounding 2-0 victory that showcased the German giant’s ability control possession and close out a big match on the road. Elite performances from Konrad Laimer, Dayot Upamecano, and Tom Bischof paved the way to Bayern’s big night.
In the postgame press conference (via @iMiaSanMia), interim manager Aaron Danks was
overwhelmed with praise for his team’s efforts.
“Really pleased with the team performance today,” said Danks. “I thought our all-round game was fantastic, the way we defended together as a group to get the clean sheet. The way we attacked and created chances. We were really, really pleased with the whole team performance.”
Bayern will have a few days to recover before another tough match on the road against Mainz. A number of key players will skip the international break to rehabilitate their injuries and earn some much needed rest.
