The summer transfer window may have closed but talk of a possible Barcelona move for Julian Alvarez continues despite the forward having missed out on joining the Catalans.
An update from Diario Sport states that Barcelona are already thinking about making another attempt to sign Alvarez when the window reopens in January.
Barca may have snapped up Gabriel Jesus instead this summer, but the report says that “Alvarez will continue to be the priority objective of the sporting management to strengthen
the Barça project before the summer of 2027.”
It’s expected money may be tight once again next summer at Barcelona, hence why a January move is already being talked about.
Atletico Madrid may just be expecting another move by Barcelona this summer. According to Mundo Deportivo, if Barca do come calling again, they will be warned that “for FC Barcelona, the price for Julián Álvarez ‘s release clause is €490 million.”
Los Colchoneros remain determined to keep Alvarez, while the Argentina star now faces the difficult challenge of trying to win over supporters riled by a summer of speculation about his future and his decision to ask for a transfer during World Cup 2026.
