Well, if it’s bulletin-board material that will help the Philadelphia Eagles win a football game to snap their five-game losing streak, the Washington Commanders just gave them some.
Speaking after practice on Wednesday, Commanders cornerback Amik Robertson guaranteed that his team will beat the Eagles:
The odds are certainly on his side; the Commanders are 5.5-point home favorites in this matchup.
Maybe the confidence will serve him and his teammates well. It’s entirely possible the Commanders will win.
But the Eagles should try to use whatever they can to muster more motivation after not exactly turning in the most inspired effort on Monday night.
Maybe they can make Robertson look silly for his guarantee. Especially before going up against 1) a team with a better record and 2) a team that beat yours earlier this season. There’s potential for this to backfire.
But we’ll see if the Eagles can actually make him eat his words.
