Not every highly rated academy talent or young signing goes on to become a Bayern Munich star. Over the past decade, the club has produced and developed plenty of exciting prospects who looked destined for big things, only for injuries, fierce competition, loan spells, or a lack of opportunities to send their careers in a different direction.
Names like Bright Arrey-Mbi, Oliver Batista Meier, Gabriel Vidović, Fiete Arp, Paul Wanner, Torben Rhein, Jamie Lawrence, Christian Früchtl, Tiago Dantas (Okay,
you caught us! We threw this one in to make sure you were paying attention), and even Michaël Cuisance all generated excitement at different stages. Some have gone on to build solid careers elsewhere, while others are still trying to fulfill the potential many supporters saw in them.
Of course, there are also players who still have time on their side, so it may be too early to write them off completely. Development is rarely a straight line, and football has a way of producing late bloomers.
