The Duke Chronicle has started its annual series of player reviews. We’re coming in a bit late, but the first three are Cameron Boozer, Dame Sarr, and Darren Harris.
As you know, Harris opted for the portal on Tuesday and Boozer is highly likely to declare for the NBA Draft this summer.
Sarr may head to the NBA as well, but he’s less of a sure bet.
We loved watching all three play this year. Boozer is light years ahead of most freshmen, while Sarr is shockingly athletic. We watched him take off on a break
once this year, and while some guys outrun fast players and are marginally faster, we had to kind of rub our eyes to make sure we saw what we thought we saw.
If you’ve ever watched Secretariat run in the 1973 Belmont, he just blows away the field. It’s not an exact analogy for what we saw from Sarr, because Secretariat just pulled away over more than a mile, ultimately winning by 31 lengths.
But both Secretariat and Sarr experienced this. Sarr has incredible speed too.
As for Harris, we’re sorry that he’s leaving. He was a wonderful presence off the bench and he grew tremendously over his two years at Duke. We hope his career is great wherever he ends up.
