What is the story about?
According to a report on 247, the Texas Tech Red Raiders are looking to schedule a big non-conference home and home series for the 2027 and 2028 college football season. Obviously… Notre Dame is being mentioned as one of the possible teams.
But here’s the thing…
Notre Dame’s 2027 schedule is already full with 12 games as they just announced Kent State and Stanford as the final two games for that season.
Look — it’s going to be USC that schedules this game with Texas Tech, and the reasons are pretty clear.
“Lubbock is 68 miles from Muleshoe, Texas, hometown to Lincoln Riley. Texas Tech is his alma mater. Would be ultimate kiss off to fans to drop Notre Dame for this.“
While a lot of Notre Dame fans would point to Pete Carroll as the ultimate USC villain head coach, the real villain is the man that helped engineer the rivalry’s demise — Lincoln Riley.
