Bayern Munich star Lennart Karl was a mildly surprising selection to the German national team considering he is just 18-years-old, but his performances in Bavaria this season made him too strong to pass up for head coach Julian Nagelsmann.
When asked about what kind of role Karl might have at the World Cup, Nagelsmann talks about the options that Karl gives him.
“A lot depends on how he performs and presents himself in the next couple of weeks. His start was exceptionally good. He made a very quick
impression. He can play both positions well. I can’t say he’s significantly better in one position over the other. Whether he starts or not, we’ll discuss that with him, and he’ll have to show on the pitch how ready he is,” Nagelsmann said (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).
At training today, Nagelsmann experimented with using Wirtz, Jamal Musiala, and Florian Wirtz together as captured by Abendzeitung journalist Maximilian Koch:

Karl could be a real X-factor for Germany, whose attacking starters — aside of Wirtz and Musiala — appear to be uncertain.
